The Secondary Grade Teacher Aspirants, who qualified in the District Selection Committee-2008 and yet failed to get posting orders, on Friday picketed the Directorate of High School Education at Lakdikapul, demanding posting orders from the Education department.
Demanding justice, the teacher aspirants climbed the water tank. They carried bottles filled with petrol and threatened to commit suicide.
The protestors also issued an ultimatum to Primary Education Minister Dokka Manikya Vara Prasad to solve the problem by Friday evening. The teacher aspirants threatened to immolate themselves if the Minister did not give written assurance on their problem.
Andhra Pradesh B-Ed Students Association president Uma Maheswara Reddy said that due to the Supreme Court judgment in sharing 70:30 ratios of posts to B Ed and D Ed candidates, many B-Ed candidates lost job opportunities even though they scored good percentage of marks in the DSC-2008.
He urged the Minister to consider their issue favourably and issue posting orders.
School Education Joint Director Satyanarayana Reddy stated that the issue would be brought to the notice of Minister and officials concerned and asked the teacher aspirants to withdraw their dharna and cooperate with the Department.
However, the teacher aspirants did not relent and continued their dharna on the water tank.
