No imminent hike in water tariff: Anam

Minister for Urban Development and Municipal Affairs Anam Ramnarayan Reddy on Thursday stated that the government was awaiting a report and then would take a decision to increase water cess in the municipalities.

Talking to media persons at the state Secretariat, Mr Reddy revealed that the government had asked the Commissioner and Directorate of Municipal Administration and APUDLM to study the increase in costs of supplying water to Municipalitis and submit a report.

Mr Reddy pointed out that the expenditure on the water supply schemes under JNNURM in the Municipalities was increased due to hike in power tariff.

He added that any hike in water cess would be decided after the government receives the report and studies it in detail.

Health Minister Danam Nagender, BC Welfare Minister Mukesh Goud and officials were present.
