The state government may soon install the statue of freedom fighter Komaram Bhim and also produce a film on his life.

Speaking to media persons at the Secretariat on Wednesday, 20-point programme Chairman Tulasi Reddy revealed that that a GO has been issued for installing the statue of the Girijan leader. Mr Tulasi Reddy further revealed that the only delay in installing the statue of the late freedom fighter was because the government was discussing where to install the statue.

Apart from this, Mr Tulasi Reddy added, the government was also planning a feature film on Komaram Bhim

condemning the remarks of Telangana Rashtra Samithi leader K Tarakarama Rao, the Chairman said that the government had also named a minor irrigation project in Adilabad district after Komaram Bhim in recognition of his services and sacrifices made while fighting against the Nizam’s rule.

Mr Tulasi Reddy further pointed out that TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao did nothing to give respect to the late freedom fighter at the time he was serving as a minister in the government led by former chief minister NT Rama Rao.

In fact, Mr Tulasi Reddy argued, KCR was trying to bring in regionalism in the statues installed on the Tank Bund. The 20-point Chairman wondered as to what region did Sir Arthur Cotton belong to, since his statue stands on the Tank Bund. He added that those veterans had actually sanctified the Telugu soil.
