Pradesh Congress Committee president D Srinivas on Thursday warned of stringent action against those who make statements against the High Command and damage the image of the party.

Talking to media persons after a PCC meeting at the Gandhi Bhavan, Mr Srinivas asked the leaders to shun from making statements against High Command, AICC president Sonia Gandhi and Chief Minister K Rosaiah.

He said the High Command would initiate disciplinary action against whoever breaches the party discipline.

Reacting on former minister Konda Surekha’s statements, the PCC chief said no one can bury the Congress party. “It has a 125 year history. No one can damage the party. If anybody violates the regulations laid down by the High Command and organizes activities against party interests, the DCC or PCC will initiate action based on its limits. If it is in limits of AICC, we will recommend action against them to High Command. We will not spare anybody who violates party diktat,” Mr Srinivas stated.

He said the PCC has received a list of 490 victims, who died after sudden death of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. The PCC has directed the DCC and incharge minister to identify the genuine beneficiaries in the list with their addresses. Those identified will get Rs 1 lakh as financial assistance. The surveyed list, with the victims’ addresses, should reach PCC by October 7, the PCC chief said.

Reacting on filling up of nominated posts, Mr Srinivas said that the Chief Minister has reacted positively and will take suitable decision at the appropriate time.

Mr Srinivas also said that there was no need for seeking permission from the PCC to give financial permissions to the families of those who had given their lives for the cause of Telangana.

Some Congress leaders from Telangana had submitted a plea seeking permission for observing of Martyrs Day on October 2 to mark Gandhi Janyanti in Karimnagar district.

He said that financial assistance to the kin of Telangana Martyrs should not be linked to Kadapa MP YS Jaganmohan Reddy’s Odarpu Yatra.

Responding to shortage of fertilizers in the state, he said the government would take all measures to protect interests of farmers.
