They said Congress supremo Sonia Gandhi could be replicated by Bollywood heart- throb Katrina Kaif. No, opposes Prakash Jha vehemently, denying there is any similarity between the actress and the UPA chairperson. The controversy came to light after Jha’s film Raajneeti was cleared by the Film Censort Board after the movie-makers agreed to delete some violent scenes and references to homosexuality. The movie starring Kaif, Ajay Devgn, Ranbir Kapoor, Nana Patekar and Manoj Bajpai is set to hit theatres on June 4.
The Board had referred the movie Raajneeti to the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal, which gave it a U/A certificate (Unrestricted Public Exhibition with parental guidance for children below 12 years).
"The Tribunal members felt there were violent scenes and abusive language in parts. There are also references to sodomy, which should be deleted," a senior Board official said and denied there were similarities between Katrina's role and the life of Sonia Gandhi.
"Katrina bears no resemblance to Sonia. There were no objections to any character in the film," the official said. Contacted, Jha refused to say whether the Tribunal had asked him to delete scenes.
