Artists, Technicians Review
Anup Bhandari tried to capture the imagination of all with a suspense thriller. He showed Kichcha Sudeep in a stylish manner and with the technical team got the desired output. However, he failed with his story, screenplay, and direction. He starts off the narration in an interesting manner but within minutes deviates to include commercial elements like comedy and side by side romantic track between Neetha Ashok and Nirup Bhandari. This diluted the interest among movie lovers. The investigation of Sudeep also is slow-paced and looks like a rollercoaster ride. When the interest level reaches its peak, some unnecessary scenes or confusing narration puts viewers off.
The first half for its flaws generates interest with the action sequence in the jungle and also with the interval twist. When people expected the second half to be fast-paced, Anup Bhandari ends up confusing viewers on various fronts. One gets a feeling that he got influenced by the dark themes of the blockbuster film KGF and also Hollywood films Pirates of The Caribbean, John Wick, and Indiana Jones. Except for the lavish sets and proceedings, the film fell low on emotions. In trying to emulate his predecessors, Anup Bhandari failed to recreate the emotions which impacted him badly.
Kichcha Sudeep performed his role quite effortlessly. The role is tailormade and he looked stylish in his character. Neetha Ashok and Sanjeev played the support roles. Madhusudhan Rao who played the role of Janardhan emoted well. Jacqueline Fernandez sizzled in the special song as Rakamma. There are many unknown Kannada stars and viewers will find it difficult to connect with them.
Ajaneesh Lokanath's music is ok. Songs however acted as speed breakers and they could have been placed in a better manner. He elevated the scenes with his background music. But however, at times, it turned out to be loud. The cinematography of William David made a powerful impact. He used the camera angles to perfection to create the desired effect. The editing of Ashik Kusugolli could have been far better as there are many drags that impacted the film's output. Telugu version dialogues are effective and well written. They gave the desired feel to the viewers and made them connect to the proceedings. Production values are grand.

Rating Analysis
Sandalwood captured the imagination of all with KGF sensation. All eyes fell on Kichcha Sudeep's Vikrant Rona which released in an extravagant manner. However, for all the hype, Sudeep-Anup Bhandari's project suffered from the similarities between KGF shades and other previous films. Kichcha Sudeep's role Vikrant Rona, for all the style, lacked substance and most of the time it was shown in a passive manner turning active only at times. To top of it, confusing story and screenplay and missing emotions undid all the good work. It is better for Sandalwood makers come out of their fascination for dark scenes and narration. Considering all these elements, CJ goes with a 2 rating for Vikran Rona.
