Maverick Director Ram Gopal Varma long time back lost his midas touch and he is now coming up with substandard films. Saaree story written by him and directed by Giri Krishna Kamal is releasing on 4 April 2025. Saaree movie OTT rights are yet to be finalised. OTT details will be revealed by the makers at a later date once the deal is inked. Let us see what Saaree offered to movie lovers.
Saaree story revolves around a psychopath who gets obsessed by a beautiful girl in a saree and goes all out to possess her by hook or crook.
Photographer Kittu (Satya Yadu) gets so obsessed with a beautiful girl in Saree Aaradhya (Aaradhya Devi) and he takes a shocking decision upon rejection. Where this leads to and how it impacted the lives of all and how it is connected to Aradhya's mother Lakshmi (Kalpalatha), father Rao (Darbha Appaji Ambarisha), brother Raj (Sahil Sambhyal) form the rest of the narration.
Satya Yadu is good in the role of the youngster who gets obsessed and possessive about a beautiful girl. He showed good expressions as a psychopath. However his expressions are singular and he got minimum dialogues.
Aaradhya Devi looked good in traditional sarees. She looked seductive and hot on screen and exploded voluptuously on the screen.
Sahil Sambhyal is good as a protective brother. Appaji Ambarish and Kalpalatha performed accordingly. While Kalpalatha expressed her fears regarding her daughter and people commenting on her, Ambarish performed well as a progressive dad.
Saaree story is penned by maveric director Ram Gopal Varma and is directed by Giri Krishna Kamal. The story starts with Ram Gopal Varma's voice over regarding social media dangers and from then on it assumes a predictable trope.
Ram Gopal Varma's story offered nothing much and Giri Krishna Kamal didn't get much chance to show his director's talent. To the top of it, he himself edited the scenes and out of love for the story he didn't do away with unnecessary elements.
The film lacked freshness and had the director and writer thought of something novel and interesting plot things would have been different. But with the writer Ram Gopal Varma and director not keen on coming up with good story and they lacked the passion for good content, the film turned out to be ridiculous one with substandard story, screenplay and direction.
Anand Raag's songs are just ok. They acted as speed breakers. The songs are meant only to show the glamour and beauty of Aaradhya. His background score is just loud and jarry.
The Cinematography of Sabari concentrated only showing the assets of Aaradhya Devi as much as possible not only in songs but also in every frame.
The is nothing much Giri Krishna Kamal and Perampally Rajesh as editors could do nothing as the film had no story at all.
Production values are just ok.
Altogether, Saaree from Ram Gopal Varma and helmed by Giri Krishna Kamal turned out to be outdated psychopath thriller.
Ram Gopal Varma boasted that he sends powerful message through Saaree about the ill effects of social media but his main aim is to objectify Aaradhya Devi on the screen.
Considering the lack of story, screenplay and direction, Cinejosh goes with a 1 Rating for Saaree.
