Jiiva, Arjun Sarja are coming together to thrill movie lovers with the film titled Aghathiyaa. The film directed by Pa. Vijay is releasing on 28 Feb 2025. Let us find out what thrills Aghathiyaa offered to movie lovers.
Aghathiyaa story revolves around a struggling director and the mystery elements involved when he goes all out to treat his mother who has been suffering from cancer.
Director Aghathiyaa (Jiiva) life goes awry due to the cancellation of the shooting of his film putting the life of his mother (Rohini) suffering from cancer in danger.
To overcome his financial struggles, he takes a drastic decision which results in untoward incidents in his life. To findout what they are and how it is connected to his girl friend Veena (Raashii Khanna), mysterious doctor Siddhartha (Arjun Sarja) form the crux of the Narration.
Jiiva played the role of the aspiring director with ease. His performance is good and so too are good emotions. Raashii Khanna is good but she got limited scope to perform.
Arjun got more importance in the film and he did justice to the role. Rohini is fine in the role of the mother.
Yogi Babu, VTV Ganesh are fine in their roles and others like Edward Sonnenblick, Indraja Shankar, Radha Ravi, Nizhalgal Ravi, Redin Kingsley performed according to the roles.
Aghathiyaa story readied by Pa. Ranjith tried to entertain viewers with super natural elements. Though he starts the narration in an interesting manner, he loses plot with in no time and from then on everything turns out to be cringe.
Story turns out to be weak and screenplay just adopts a predictable line offering no real twists and turns. With Pa. Ranjith's direction turning uni dimensional, the actors just passed through the motions, diluting the entire theatrical experience. After all the routine, predictable and monotonous elements, the film ends, this bringing a relief to the torture underwent by the viewers.
Yuvan Shankar Raja's music didn't make much impact and his background music failed to elevate the scenes. Deepak Kumar Padhy's cinematography is just ok. The editing of San Lokesh could have been more crispy. There are many scenes that turned repetitive. Dialogues are just ok and production values are average.
What is the most important factor in all, The movie makers have also shown negligence towards Telugu dubbing how much negligence to put the title in Telugu. It shows interest in the language of the makers but is their greed to make money for the Tollywood market.
Altogether, Aghathiyaa turned out to be predictable entertainer. Director Pa. Ranjith despite having Jiiva, Arjun in key roles failed with his story as it didn't have any interesting elements. To the top of it, screenplay and direction didn't inspire confidence. Considering all these elements, Cinejosh goes with a 1.5 rating for Aghathiyaa.
