Megastar Chiranjeevi, as we all know, is known for his extensive mode of charitable works. Although he started doing philanthropic activities in early 1980s itself, they turned in a constructive manner after the establishment of Chiranjeevi Blood and Eye Banks in 1998. Chiranjeevi established CCC exclusively for cine workers who suffered with no work due to lockdown last year, and raised funds to supply daily commodities and grocery for them. And now, he has taken yet another earth-shattering initiative to establish oxygen banks in all districts of Telugu states. He is reported to be spending Rs.44 crore for this mammoth charitable activity. 

Not only Chiranjeevi, but also most of the stars of the present generation are doing social service to their best. So, they cannot be criticized in this aspect. But then, what about the charitable activities of superstars and number ones of previous generations? Let's have a bird's eye view on their charitable works. 

* Telugu film industry's first number one hero Chittoor V Nagaiah was a good philanthropist. He donated some of his earnings for the needy. However, as he had no financial discipline, he had to face financial crisis during the last days of his life. 

* Tollywood's all time number one heroine Savithri also had a kind-hearted attitude towards the poor and needy. But then, some setbacks and financial indiscipline led her to face crisis in her last days. 

* This is about the story of a previous top hero. Shockingly, he had no such great history of social service. His fans would always boast about only one particular moment in which he raised funds to help the victims of 'Diviseema Uppena'. Other than this charity, no traces of social service, as per records, is available for this hero. 

* Another top hero of yesteryears had also no good track record of social service. 

* Superstar Krishna, however, would exhibit his generous heart differently. Many times, he left his remunerations to his producers who incurred losses. Unfortunately, Krshna had to face a financial crisis with the losses incurred by his Padmalaya Studios. Thankfully, his proud son Mahesh Babu bailed him out of all those financial hiccups. The superstar is leading his life peacefully now. 

* Mohan Babu established Sri Vidya Nikethan and offered free education to the down trodden groups.
