Ever since filmmaker Shankar announced about Hindi remake of Tamil blockbuster 2005 Anniyan, the film has evoked controversy. V Ravichandran issued a lengthy note to Indian 2 director stating that he is the sole owner of the film rights and none is entitled to tweak or remake without his permission.
V Ravichandran filed a complaint with the South Indian Chamber of Commerce (SICC). Now, SICC Chairman Ravi Kottarakara has reacted to the ongoing row where he stated that they have received the compliant and have now written a letter to Shankar asking him to react on the alleged allegations.
The SICC Chairaman further added that the film rights are typically vested with producer. But if a remake is to be done, producer is generally given a mount. But since the film came years back, he doesn’t want to comment on it without knowing the veracity.
