Various top OTT players approached makers of Power Star Pawan Kalyan during lockdown for direct to digital rights. However, Dil Raju and Boney Kapoor who are producing the film rejected many fancy offers, as films of the kind need to be watched only on big screens. Moreover, they are aware that Pawan Kalyan fans will not agree if their star’s film releases directly on OTT.
In the meantime, Vakeel Saab digital streaming rights and satellite rights were sold out. While Amazon Prime acquired streaming rights, Zee Telugu obtained satellite rights for a staggering price. However, the film will be available for streaming 50 days after theatrical release.
Of late, many small to high budget films are releasing within 2 to 4 weeks after theatrical release which is causing big losses to buyers. Considering this, Pawan Kalyan told his makers to put in the condition of streaming the film only after 50 days.
Directed by Venu Sriram, Shruti Haasan played a brief role as Pawan Kalyan’s wife, while Anjali, Nivetha Thomas and Ananya Nagalla will be seen in important roles. Vakeel Saab is scheduled to be released theatrically on 9th April.
