Veteran choreographer Sundaram has a long-lasting association with Telugu cinema for decades now and all of his sons – Prabhudeva, Raju Sundaram and Nagendra Prasad – have made a mark in multiple industries. While Prabhudeva and Raju Sundaram have been constantly in the limelight for their work as choreographers, actors and directors, Nagendra Prasad has had his share of ups and downs in the film industry.

Best known for Jeans as a choreographer and featuring in the hit song Humma Humma in the past, Nagendra Prasad made a debut as a lead actor in a Kannada film Chitra and followed it up with a trilingual 123 alongside Jyothika in addition to appearances in hit films like Kushi, Ghilli (Tamil). After a long time, the actor was seen in a brief role in Vijay’s Master this year. Now, his Tamil film Koothan is getting ready for a release in Telugu, titled Dance Raja Dance.

Directed by AL Venky and produced by Thummalapalli Rama Satyanarayana, Dance Raja Dance is set amid the backdrop of an international dance competition, where struggling film artistes come together to win prize money that’ll help save their home. MM Sreelekha has crooned a few songs for the film while Bharathi Babu is the dialogue writer. Urvasi, Manobala, Ramki play key roles in Dance Raja Dance.

“The film was made under a 4 crore budget in Tamil on a lavish scale. The effort to portray the struggles within the film industry in a dance-backdrop completely moved me. The treatment is very close to reality. The songs are exquisitely choreographed and the film has the right emotions and several elements that’ll make for a perfect entertainer. Dubbing films have a good market in Telugu cinema. There’s a familiarity that audiences have with Prabhudeva and his family. I’m sure it’ll come in handy for us,” the producer added. Thummalapalli Rama Sathyanarayana is confident of finding an appropriate release date for the film in the coming weeks.
