Coronavirus impacted all the industries which resulted in huge losses in 2020. The film industry is one search industry which suffered huge losses. In order to reduce the losses film stars like Suriya, Nani and others decided to release their films on OTT Platforms. Suriya’s Soorarai Pottru or Aakasam Nee Hadhura and Nani’s V released on Amazon Prime.
However Suriya's action was opposed by exhibitors and Multiplex owners in Tamil Nadu. However, Suriya did not bother about their opposition and went ahead with his film’s release. The film turned out to be the biggest hit on the OTT.
Suriya made good profits but it seems exhibitors are angry and out to exact revenge on him. Tamil Nadu Theatre Owners and Multiplex Association accused Suriya's family of trying to destroy theatres business. They said when other stars like Vijay and Dhanush are releasing their films in theatres; Suriya is the one who is acting as a villain.
The question is will the theatre owners and exhibitors go ahead with their threat and prevent Suriya's films releases in theatres?
