When ANR Couldn't Escape From NTR

NTR and ANR used to be two eyes of Tollywood. They powered the industry to dizzy heights. They came with many evergreen multi starrers and after few years have taken a conscious decision not to star together in mythological, historical and folklore films together to avoid undue comparison and fan wars.

Despite this, NTR and ANR always shared good relations and mutual respect. NTR when he planned his blockbuster Daana Veera Soora Karna decided to cast ANR in the role of Krishna or Karna and contacted him and met him personally for the same.

However, ANR politely refused saying that people couldn't digest him or bear him in the role of Krishna as they worshipped NTR in the role immortalized by him. He also escaped saying if he plays the role of Karna, Pandavas would be turned as dwarfs as he would dominate them.

But NTR didn't heed. Next morning ANR got a call from the then CM Jalagam Vengalarao requesting ANR to play the role as people will love their combination. ANR escaped with great difficulty telling the same answer to the CM. NTR finally had his way when he cast ANR as Chanakya and he played the role of Chandragupta in his film Chanakya Chandragupta.
