When Producer Proposed His Love To Naresh!

Movie lovers cannot forget the comedy caper Chitram Bhalare Vichitram which hit the screens in 1991. The film directed by Ramchandra Rao featured Sr Naresh in a female role which cast a magic spell on everyone. 

Naresh speaking to scribes revealed how Chiram Bhalare Vichitram happened. "Since my childhood, I used to have the features of my mother. After turning hero, I dreamed doing a female role at least in one film. I happened to watch an English film and loved it. Inspired by it, I penned a story and went to Jandhyala. 

He questioned me 'your height is 5ft10in and whether people will watch if you do a female role'. I felt there is a point in it and he decided to test the pulse of people with a trial. In Choopulu Kalisina Subhavela, he cast me in a female role and also shot a duet on me and Sutti Veerabhadra Rao. 

As per my knowledge this is the only duet filmed on two male actors. During that time, the film Chitram Bhalare Vichitram came to me. I experienced lot of troubles for the role. The makers planned to remake the film in Tamil with Kamal Haasan in the lead. After watching the film, Kamal remarked, 'Naresh did very well. It takes ten years for the people to forget his performance. I too will do female role after ten years'. I felt as if I got Padmasri award on hearing Kamal's praises.

"When I was on the sets of Chitram Bhalare Vichitram, a producer came and fell in love with me. Later knowing the truth, he ran away without looking back and till now he never came to me," narrated Naresh his Chitram Bhalare Vichitram journey.
