As we know, the first year student of B.Arch from Acharya Nagarjuna University, Rishiteswari, was brutally ragged by her co-students. Having been depressed with the humiliation faced by her, she committed suicide. From then on, student unions and social activists have been demanding the government to do justice to Rishiteswari's parents and to take measures the caste politics to be eradicated in the university.
The AP government has taken crucial decisions in the cabinet meet held in Vijayawada to do justice to Rishiteswari's family. The cabinet has announced Rs.10 lakhs ex-gratia to the victim. Besides 500 yards of site will be provided for Rishiteswari's parents in Rajahmundry. Moreover, the government has also taken resolution to get the investigation done promptly.
