Ap CM Jagan Mohan Reddy is known to take powerful decisions targeting his political rivals. With him facing huge anti-incumbency and assembly elections fast Approaching in two more years in 2024, Jagan Mohan Reddy decided to reorganize the state of Andhra Pradesh. During the past few days, rumors spread that the YSRCP government headed by Jagan Mohan Reddy will reorganize the state and create more districts.
Turning the rumors into true, Jagan Mohan Reddy announced the creation of 13 new districts. With the 13 new districts, Ap will now have 26 districts. The Government of Andhra Pradesh issues a gazette notification, taking the total number of districts in the State from the existing 13 to 26. The new districts are named Manyam, Alluri Sitharama Raju, AnakApalli, Kakinada, Kona Seema, Eluru, NTR District, BApatla, Palnadu, Nandyal, Sri Satyasai, Annamayya, and Sri Balaji district respectively.
To target the rival opposition, TDP chief Chandra Babu Naidu, named one district after former Ap CM, legendary actor, TDP founding president, NTR. He created Machilipatnam, the cApital of Krishna into another district and named it as NTR district. It has to be seen whether this will pay them any dividends in the coming elections making people forget the illogical government orders targeting the Tollywood film industry, Government employees, and other sections of the society.
The old districts of Ap are Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, VisakhApatnam, East Godavari, West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam, Nellore, AnantApuram, KadApa, Kurnool, and Chittoor.
