The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has alleged that Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has only encouraged corruption during his two-year rule.
Addressing the second anniversary celebrations of Telangana Formation Day at Gandhi Bhavan here on Thursday, TPCC Working President Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka alleged large scale corruption in execution of Mission Bhagaritha, Irrigation projects and other schemes. He said contractors from Andhra region were awarded huge contractors so as to extract huge commissions. The same money was used to bribe and lure legislators of oppposition parties, he alleged.
Bhatti said that it was Congress president Sonia Gandhi who granted statehood for Telangana. However, KCR has been trying to give entire credit to himself and his family. He said instead of completing the pending projects initiated during Congress rule, TRS Government was focused on initiating new projects only to get commissions. He also accused KCR of acting like a dictator by weakening the opposition parties. He appealed to the media to play an active role in exposing the corruption and irregularities of TRS Government.
The meeting was also addressed by Leader of Opposition in Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir, ex-Union Ministers S. Jaipal Reddy and Sarve Satyanarayana and other Congress leaders.
Earlier, Bhatti hosted the national flag and Congress leaders paid tributes to the martyrs of Telangana.
