Former minister Damodar Reddy on Tuesday demanded MP Kavuri Sambhasiva Rao withdraw his allegedly objectionable remarks made against tribals during MPs meeting at New Delhi on the Polavaram Irrigation Project.

Taking a serious note on the MP’s comments at the meeting, Mr Damodar Reddy condemned the remarks and sought a public apology.

Mr Sambhasiva Rao had described in detail how the lives of tribals affected by the Kolleru project, had improved with rehabilitation schemes announced by the government, at the MPs’ meeting.

Mr Damodar Reddy however found fault with the description and stated that the comments made by Mr Sambhasiva Rao were not suitable to his position considering his seniority.

Reacting on Mr Sambhasiva Rao’s comments against senior Congress leader K Kesava Rao that he was not eligible for Congress Working Committee membership, Mr Damodar Reddy stated that the comments made against KK would insult Sonia Gandhi also as she appoints CWC members. He stated that Mr Sambhasiva Rao should apologise for these comments too.

The former minister said all Telanganaites know fully well that KK was working for their interests.

Reacting on protests against the absence of former chief minister late YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s photo on the banners at Telangana Martyrs meeting, Mr Damodar Reddy stated that everybody know that YSR was against formation of Telangana state.

The Telangana leaders had already taken a decision in the Congress Action Committee for Telangana not to include YSR’s photos at the Martyrs meeting.

He also questioned why the Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy was not putting up Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s photos on banners at the Odarpu yatras.
