Surender Reddy Readying New Version Of Agent For OTT

Akhil Akkineni's high-budgeted action thriller Agent has been surrounded by huge expectations before its release. Even Akhil was confident that it will give him a much-needed break in his career and worked hard for the film. But, to everyone's disappointment, Agent became a debacle right from the first show. Makers who earlier planned for a pan India release have dropped their plans after seeing the disastrous result on its first day itself. 

The Agent didn't survive even for a week in theatres. The streaming partner of the film. Sony Liv announced that it will be up for streaming from May 20, three weeks after its theatrical release. But, to a surprise, the film didn't surface online even after the official announcement from its OTT partner. Many wondered what could be the reason. 

Meanwhile, within the first week of its release, Agent Producer Anil Sunkara issues a note apologizing to fans for the failure of Agent. He said that they have proceeded without a proper script and that is the costliest mistake they made. He didn't mention Director Surender Reddy's name in his statement. This throws Surender in a bad light in that the entire fault is from the director's side. 

But, Surender Reddy didn't speak about the film till now. To save his image it is being said that he stopped the OTT release of Agent as he is also one of the producers for the film. He wanted to re-edit the film and add some deleted scenes to make it look better in OTT. So, to do this work he is said to be stalled the streaming of Agent in Sony LIV.
