Ponniyin Selvan: first looks mesmerize, locks release

Star director Maniratnam is realising his dream project Ponniyin Selvan on silver screen. The film is an adaptation of  Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel by the same name. Maniratnam is turning Ponniyin Selvan into a visual extravaganza by roping in top stars like Vikram, Aiswarya Rai, Jayam Ravi, Karthi,Trisha, Aishwarya Lekshmi, and Ashwin Kakamanu in the lead roles.

According to the latest, the makers released the first looks of all the characters and also locked the film's release. The film will be releasing in style on September 20,2022. The first looks of various actors cast a magic spell on movie lovers mesmerising them to the core.

The film is the first of the two instalments of the novel and highlights the life of Raja Raja Chozhan I, Vikram and Jayam Ravi looked ferocious in the roles of Aditya Karikalan and Arulmozhivarman or Ponniyin Selvan respectively. Trisha looked royal, gorgeous and enchanting as Kundavai Pirattiyar, also known as Illaiya Piratti. Music is scored by Rahman, Cinematography is handled by Ravi Varman and editing by Sreekar Prasad.

Mani Ratnam, under his production studio Madras Talkies, along with Allirajah Subaskaran under the banner Lyca Productions are bankrolling the project.
