Bollywood Interest On Sports Films

Bollywood stars and filmmakers are showing keen interest over sports-based films. Superstar Salman Khan’s next film Sultan is biopic on Haryanvi wrestler Sultan Ali Khan who had problems in his professional and personal life. Salman Khan has bulked up to essay the role. Anushka Shetty is female lead in the film directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The first look teaser of the flick has generated curiosity.

Bollywood Mr perfectionist Aamir Khan is also coming up next with a sports-based film. He is also playing a wrestler in his ongoing project Dangal directed by Nitesh Tiwari. Aamir Khan is portraying the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, who taught wrestling to his daughters Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. Geeta Phogat was India's first female wrestler to win at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, where she won the gold medal (55 kg) while her sister Babita Kumari won the silver (51 kg).

Emraan Hashmi is playing Mohammad Azharuddin in the controversial cricketer’s biopic Azhar. Sushant Singh Rajput will be seen as Indian cricket team’s most successful captain MS Dhoni in the film MS Dhoni : The Untold Story. Sachin Tendulkar is playing himself in a film ‘Sachin : A Billion Dreams’ made on his life. There are few other films being made based on sports. Who among these will impress the audience?
