Director Vamsy Paidipally and producer Prasad V Potluri have done laborious hard work in scripting ‘Oopiri’ as large scale inspiration from heart touching ‘The Intouchables.’
Having released in Telugu as ‘Oopiri’ and ‘Thozha’ in Tamil, response from Telugu and Tamil audience appears to be dissimilar. While ‘Oopiri’ is given a thumbs up by Telugu critics and audience with 3.25 and 3.5 star ratings, same is not the case for ‘Thozha’ wherein ratings have marginally touched 3 stars declaring it as pretty average flick. Reports say, infirm emotional bonding and excessive length as reasons behind midpoint result in Kollywood.

So, Nag cannot be considered as a wrong choice for Tamil version because Karthi being a Tamil actor is openly praised by Telugu viewers for his comic timing.
