The inflow of investments from Japan into Andhra Pradesh also seems to have its own adverse effects as Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is mooting with the idea of introducing Japanese Language in the curriculum of Andhra Pradesh education. The new state of Andhra Pradesh has got three major universities with campuses in Acharya Nagarjuna University in Guntur, Andhra University in Visakhapatnam and Sri Venkakteshwara University in Tirupathi.
Naidu Government has decided to introduce Japanese Language as a course in all three from this current academic year. A proposal mooted by AP State Council for Higher Education (APSCHE) has got the nod from Andhra Pradesh Government. Guntur would be acting as nodal centre for promotion of Japanese Language in India. Although State will not give any funds for meeting the expenditure in these Universities, Japan’s major company Mitsubishi Corporation announced its plan to start a Japan Information and Study Centre along with pumping of needed financial resources.
Naidu is aiming all this with a plan to woo large scale investments and opening of news jobs from Japanese companies in Amaravathi in parallel to introduction of Japanese culture into local Andhra Pradesh culture. Let us see, how opposition parties counterattack this new concept of intersection between two cultures.
