Chief Minister K Roasaiah on Friday directed the officials to work for an AIDS-free society by creating awareness in the youth about sexual life.
Reviewing the impact of HIV/AIDS on the economic and social development of the State with Health Minister D Nagender and AIDS Control Society Project Director R V Chandravadan at the camp office, the Chief Minister directed the officials to set up HIV/AIDS counseling and testing centres in Primary and Community Health Centres to identify high risk groups.
Rosaiah said 350 testing centres should be set up under public-private partnership model.
Stating that orders have been issued to all district collectors to accord priority in welfare schemes to the people living with HIV/AIDS, he said the Government would pay compensation for untimely deaths occurred due to disease.
He stressed the need for intensive efforts and multi-sectoral response to halt HIV/AIDS in the state.
