Cong plans grand function to herald in Botsa's stint

The open ground in front of the Prakasam Hall in Gandhi Bhavan will be the venue for a function to herald in the new Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana when he assumes charge on June 11.

The Congress party is planning to leave no stone unturned to ensure that the function will be grand enough to herald Mr Satyanarayana in office, with even the High Command’s representatives likely to attend.

The state Congress is pinning its hopes on Mr Satyanarayana to rejuvenate the party cadre and provide the flagging fortunes of the party with a fresh lease of life and this is being reflected with the arrangements for the function.

Finance Minister Anam Ramnarayana Reddy on Wednesday convened a meeting at Gandhi Bhavan to review the arrangements for the programme.

Mr Ramnarayana Reddy discussed the arrangements with Minister for Labour Danam Nagender, senior leaders, MLCs and PCC office bearers.

After the meeting, Mr Ramnarayana Reddy appealed to all office-bearers to organize the programme in a orderly manner and ensure that there are no half-hearted measures.

The meeting also reviewed the security arrangements to be put in place for the function.(
