Jyothika misses voting, gets trolled. During a recent Chennai press conference for her upcoming Hindi film "Srikanth," actress Jyothika faced scrutiny and online backlash regarding her absence during the recent Tamil Nadu elections.

When questioned by a reporter about not setting an example by voting, Jyothika initially responded, "I vote every year." Upon realizing her mistake, she clarified, "At times we can be out of town, we can be sick, it's a private thing. Sometimes we vote privately also, we might do it online, not everything is publicized. There is a private side to life and we need to respect that and give that space."

This explanation caused confusion and criticism online, as online voting is not available for the general public in India. Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) were flooded with comments questioning Jyothika's statement.

One user sarcastically wrote, "Mam, looks like you are the brand ambassador of a new policy decision taken by the government – online voting!" Another added, "Pls help me! How can I vote privately online like Jyothika?"

Many users highlighted the importance of physical voting and civic duty. One user stated, "You can’t sit at home privately & press a button on a keyboard to vote. This is not Big Boss."

The incident sparked discussions about misinformation, the importance of voter education, and celebrities' roles in promoting civic engagement.
